Possible race for Xenoverse. Sure they were just like dark elves but Bardock had that super mode.

I love these fellows. I played Klonoa a few days ago and couldn’t resist drawing them. I’m so happy the series is still alive with the Wii U virtual console release <3

How I Study Paintings

So someone in the livestream today asked what I recommend doing for studying art. Of course I talked about the ultimate “study from life” talk, but I also talked about something my old highschool teacher once told me. “I find that imitation is often the best way to learn from others. Then you can better see why they chose to do what they did”. There’s also “Sometimes making a mistake is the best thing you can do" which is irrelevant to what I’m talking about, but it’s a nice quote to live by regardless.
But Ben/Cheese, is it ethical? It’s completely fine as long as you don’t go around saying that the work is yours. P.s. not sourcing the art and/or artist is quite a similar offence to art theft, so don’t do it.
That said, make sure you choose a painting you actually like, so you can find why you like it, instead of copying something else and being like ” I guess some people can find the appeal.” Make sure that what you’re doing is gonna be at least somewhat enjoyable for you, don’t let art be associated with assery and dumb dumbness.

Alright, now I’ll actually explain the process. :P
Step One: Find a badass picture that you dig. This one is a concept painting done by Jaime Jones, art-community-famous Art Lord, and Bringer of Dawn.
Step Two: Copy the painting. I recommend doing just the thumbnail (about 600 pixels wide), but you can go detailed if you really want. Make sure you pay attention to what you’re copying, and use this time to pick up little things like how they added rocks, and now there’s more of a sense of depth to the painting. Stuff that when you paint it in, you notice a difference to how the painting presents itself. What’s changed? Memorize this painting.(This is important, it comes in later in the process)
Step Three: Block the previous painting and try painting it from what you remember. You can use the same colour pallette as before, it gets way more challenging without that. While doing this, refer to Step Four.
Step Four: While you paint it again, make new layers and write in those notes that you tried picking up in step two, and remembered to repeat in step three. Solidify what you remember.
Step Five: Reward yourself. You just learned stuff! Hell nice, you’re awesome! Use this time to look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you kick ass, and/or paint and draw some images from your imagination, using those points you just remembered.

Anyway, I hope this post has been helpful! Good luck and have fun, buddies!
