Just a little thing that comes to mind..
I’m a huge Super Mario fan. I’ve grown up with him all my life and he’s been a huge influence on my tastes in games as well as other things. But lately he’s become more and more of a logo. Like Mickey Mouse.
The thing that comes to mind is… I miss Mario showing negative emotions, like annoyance, anger, jealousy. He had much more charm and character that way. I rarely if not never see him legitimately get mad. When I see him against Bowser, I see him get serious yes, but the seriousness has that cutesy charm to it that makes him…. flat?
The Paper Mario Series showed a lot of emotions with him, and the Mario and Luigi.
I donno, I just wish we could have a much more expressive Mario that can have flaws in the 3D games.
Anyway, I drew Mario Annoyed and Pissed.

depression is when you don’t really care about anything
anxiety is when you care too much about everything
and having both is just like whatHaving both is staying in bed because you don’t want to go to school and then panicking because you don’t want to fail. Having both is wanting to go see your friends so you don’t lose them all, then staying home in bed because you don’t want to make the effort. Having both is insanely hard and sucks to deal with.
Sprite art from “Herogest”!
Saying I had a few gothic-ish game projects inbetween the ones I finish would be an understatement. I released a video of this around the time Bindign of Isaac was announced as some sort of weird “I’m not gonna make this game now, but for future reference, just wanna make clear I wasn’t copying”, even if that shouldn’t be necessary. They turned out with very different goals. Herogest was meant to generate new gameplay and, to an extent, mechanics. Not be about finding loot and trinkets at all.
Basically it would generate Zelda-like dungeons with one item, and the dungeon would add traps based on the item. Many more ideas and sophistication went into even the prototype engine, but it was during the beginning of Iconoclasts dev and I knew I needed 100% of my time on it. Definitely coming back to this one. <3

By the way, having abandoned projects just means you’re a game dev. People used to love to say I never finished anything. They’re just big projects. ;)
